Compare and Conserve (CnC) is a website to help homeowners conserve energy through education and competition.

CnC calculates relevant comparisons for home energy use and displays detailed information about household performance. Users are given various options to view, analyze, and understand how they use energy, and how they compare with their peers.
Homeowners can see how they compare to their neighbors, and compete directly for the title of greenest home on the block.
Household performance over time can be used to identify behavioral or infrastructure improvements.
Consumption can be analyzed in several different ways through an intuitive user interface.

Users can also sign in and get additional tools to help them conserve. They can claim their home and record the progress of their energy-saving measures.

They create Virtual Neighborhoods to compare themselves with self-selected peer groups: family, acquaintances, coworkers, etc.
This option allows for spontaneous competitions and personalized contests.
CnC also serves buyers, offering insight into the operating costs of a home, and allowing efficient comparisons of potential homes.
Compare and Conserve is fully customizable. See CnC in action at http://GainesvilleGreen.com, and read some success stories.
Segmentation
CnC can be configured to operate in a less transparent manner, masking individual household usage and displaying usage summed by census block or zip code. To view individual household statistics, users must enter the utility account number for that home.
How it works
CnC imports consumption data directly from utilities and combines it with building data from local property appraisers. The blended data and comparisons are calculated according to formulas from the building science experts at University of Florida’s Program for Resource Efficient Communities.
